Spring Cleanse
What is it?
A five day meal plan, specifically created for YOU using your constitution type. (grocery list + recipes included)
When?
Spring (April 15th or anytime after)
How?
Eating pure, simple foods + supportive drinks + exercise + lifestyle tips
Why?
Cleansing = Detoxification = the natural cleansing process of these organs: liver, kidney, lymph, skin. Yes, our organs are designed to cleanse and detox everyday. However, sometimes we get clogged up and need help optimizing these daily processes.
This is especially true if you: have been fighting chronic illness, take more than 5 supplements/medications a day, eat processed foods or drink alcohol, go to sleep after 10pm or don’t sleep 8 hours a night. You need help clearing your detox pathways if you suffer from symptoms such as: acne, weight gain, headaches, itching, digestive issues, mental illness or food cravings.
Traditional rituals make sense. If humans have been doing something for thousands of years, there is a good reason. And, most traditional cultures and religions promote a seasonal cleanse. (Think Lent and Ramadan).
One of the reasons for Ramadan fasting is to promote self-discipline, and I agree! One of my favorite reasons to cleanse is it teaches me to crave healthy foods again. It really redirects my sweet tooth to a more balanced diet.
Traditionally in Spring, before the global economy, our food stores would be dwindling down to bitter greens, meats and early spring veggies.
This is exactly the diet that Ayurveda recommends in Spring. An Ayurvedic Cleanse is an eating cleanse. Ayurveda believes limiting your food to a simple diet for one week is a cleanse.
